Pool Updates:
We have added a few new features for pool seasons 2022:

Borrow Bucket – We are creating a Borrow Bucket that will be filled with pool noodles, balls and diving toys for residents to borrow while at the pool.  When you are finished using the items you borrow you simply return them back to the bucket for the next resident to use.  These items will be owned by the Metro District and hopefully will enhance your pool experience and make it more enjoyable.

Snack Shack – Credit Cards Only – We are going cashless at the snack shack!  The Metropolitan District has purchased a square register and will now be accepting credit card payments only for all snacks and drinks.  You can tap, swipe or dip your card for use at the snack shack.  We will accept VISA, Discover, American Express, MasterCard and Apple Pay and Google Pay.  All snacks will be $1.00 except for Otter Pops which are $0.25.  We will no longer be handling or accepting cash, so remember to bring your credit card to the pool.

Shade for our Lifeguards – We have received positive feedback about the shade canopies that we added last year around the pool however we noticed that our lifeguards were baking in the sun by the pool gate. So this year we have added an additional canopy for the lifeguards at the entrance to the pool. We also purchased new umbrellas for the lifeguard stands.

Recycling  – New this year, we will be adding the option to recycle at our outdoor pool. New recycling bins have been ordered and will be installed prior to pool season.

Park Phase II:

We are eager to start moving dirt! Richdell Construction will be bringing in their earth scrapers towards mid-April. Fencing will go up around the construction zone and we look forward to watching the progress. We anticipate the project taking 5-6 month (weather permitting) and check out a few of the features that will be included below:
Clubhouse Improvements:

The Jelly Fish lighting company will be installing new exterior lights around the clubhouse soon. We look forward to saving money each year on our holiday lights. We also will enjoy having the added security of brighter lights around the clubhouse. In addition, we updated the interior lights at the clubhouse with new LED lights and fixtures.

District Landscaping Information:

We have had 13 snow events so far this year. Cox Landscaping removes the snow quickly from our district sidewalks and the clubhouse parking lot after each event. In addition, you may have seen Cox Landscaping working along our district property trimming all the wheatgrass.  During March, the board had all the monument sign lighting replaced with LED lights. This change will save us replacing lights in the future and also enhances the look of our neighborhood. We also continue to maintain the neighborhood and make repairs as needed. We have fixed a few chairs at the bug park that were missing their bolts. We encourage neighbors to let us know if you see anything in the district that needs to be fixed, please email us at [email protected]

Girls Bathroom Remodel:

This project continues to make progress and is on track to be completed before the pool opens this summer. The new tile has been installed, the floors have been refinished, the walls and stalls have been painted and the bathroom stalls have been reinstalled.
No Dumping at the Clubhouse:

During the last few months we have seen an uptick in dumping at the clubhouse. We do have cameras in the clubhouse parking lot and give license plate numbers to the police. Please be a responsible neighbor and do not dump anything by the clubhouse. Tri-County recently shared this list of ways to recycle that might be helpful for our neighbors if you have bigger items or items that can not be picked up by Waste Management’s normal service.  Here is there A-Z recycling guide: www.tchd.org/RecycleGuide
Clean up after your pet:

Please be a good neighbor and help keep our neighborhood clean and beautiful. Please clean up after your furry friend. There has been an increase of residents not cleaning up after their dogs. Please be considerate and do the right thing.

COVENANT ENFORCEMENT
Common Violations and How to Avoid Them

As a District, our goal in upholding the Covenants is preserving the nature and character of the community and protecting property values. It is important to make sure each homeowner is following all of District Guidelines and Covenants. As you read through the list below, you can see how to avoid potential problems.
Here are some of the most common District violations we typically see, and what you should know about each of them.

  • Landscaping: There are rules about overgrown lawns, weeds and dead plants. When you replace dead plants, be sure to check guidelines to see what types of trees/plants/shrubs are allowed. If you are using different plants than what you had, you will need architectural approval.
  • Vehicles: RVs, boats, trailers and commercial vehicles, for example can be kept on a property for up to 72 hours for loading and unloading only. Otherwise they must be kept within the enclosed garage or an off-site storage facility out of the community.
  • Trash: There are rules on putting trash cans out too early or not bring them in by a certain time, since they can attract pests and make a neighborhood look shabby. “All garbage or trash cans or receptacles shall be stored out of site (except that a container for such materials may be placed outside at such times as may be necessary to permit garbage or trash pickup.) Trash containers may be placed on the street for pickup after 5:00 p.m. on the evening prior to the day that such trash is to be picked up. Trash containers must be removed from the street properly stored by 9:00 p.m. of the day of pickup.”
  • Exterior storage: The District limits what types of equipment may be stored outside. For instance, you should keep items such as bicycles, lawnmowers, kayaks or other items out of view, behind a fence or within your enclosed garage or shed.
  • Pets: To keep all residents safe and comfortable and being respectful of your neighbors, it is important to keep dogs on leashes and to pick up after your pet, while walking them in the neighborhood. The District also limits how many pets you can own, specific breeds and sizes, for example no chickens or livestock are allowed.
  • Noise: The District, as well as the City of Aurora have rules that restrict loud noises or bright lights between certain hours. Noise ordinances must be followed.
  • Holiday decorations: Because you live in the District, there are rules on how long before (45 days) and after (30 days) a holiday that you can decorate the home’s exterior.
  • Design changes: The District set up the Guidelines, so that if you have questions changing the appearance or structure of your home or simple things like painting your house, making changes to any landscaping or adding a patio or deck, do require written approval from the District’s design review committee. To review the Guidelines or to get a design review application go to https://www.wheatlandsmetro.org/covenants/

How to respond to District rule violation notices

  • Address it: Ignoring a violation notice won’t make it go away and can make the situation much worse, if not responded to. Once you’ve received a violation notice, take steps to understand and correct the violation, and either pay or appeal the fine if issued.
  • Don’t take it personally: Remember that the rules were created to keep the community safe and comfortable for residents, including you. You agreed to abide by the rules when you bought your home.
  • Communicate: While friendly phone or email communication can address minor infractions or warnings, written communication and documentation helps create clarity for everyone involved. When you’ve been accused of a rule’s violation, it’s best to address it in writing. If there are extenuating circumstances—like a family emergency that causes you to fall behind on lawn care—communicate that to your Covenant enforcement manager at [email protected] . You don’t know if an exception might be made until you ask.
  • Get involved: There is usually a correlation between the level of homeowner involvement and the success of a community. So, if you want to improve your community, volunteer for a board or committee position or attend meetings to see how you can contribute.
Next Board Meeting
