Community Events

We are working on some more fun socially distanced events to offer to the community.

If you are Wheatlands resident and have an idea that the entire community would enjoy please let us know. We want to support our Wheatlands neighbors and open to your ideas or suggestions.
Important Neighborhood Watch Info
We are seeing an increase in the number of motor vehicle thefts and motor vehicle trespasses in our community.  Please be sure to report all suspicious activity to the Aurora Police Department (303-627-3100/911). “If you see something, say something.”

Tips to Help Prevent Motor Vehicle Theft and Motor Vehicle Trespasses:

1.      NEVER leave your vehicle running unattended in your driveway, garage, or on the street – if you use a remote start you may do so however be sure doors are locked and key/key fobs are in a safe place away from the vehicle.

2.      ALWAYS keep your vehicle doors locked, when driving and parked.

3.      Park in your garage. If you must park outside, park in a well-lit location.

4.      Do not keep a spare set of keys in the vehicle.

5.      Do not store firearms or other weapons in the vehicle.

6.      Do not “advertise” what’s in your vehicle. Remove all items each time you depart the vehicle and do not leave anything visible.

7.      Avoid leaving documents with your address in the glove box.

8.      Purchase comprehensive insurance which covers stolen vehicles.

9.      Use a theft deterrent system such as “The Club” or an alarm system.

Community Information
No Dumping at the Clubhouse Dumpsters:

No Dumping is allowed at the Wheatlands Clubhouse. It costs our district money every time someone illegally dumps large items at the clubhouse. This year alone (2021) we have spent over $500 to haul away illegally dumped trash.  The clubhouse dumpsters are meant for clubhouse rental trash and pool trash during the summer.

The dumpster container was replaced last year and needs to be replaced again this year due to large items being thrown over or leaned against it.

We ask that you take your large trash items to the Aurora dump which is located really close to our district and is just down Gun Club Rd.

Or you can contact Waste Management for their dumpster rentals or dumpster bags.  We will not tolerate illegal dumping at the clubhouse and violators will be fined and prosecuted.

Clubhouse information – We continue to keep our clubhouse open for our residents knowing it is important to have a space for our residents to use when several other facilities are closed. Tri-County health has recently changed their guidelines on group gatherings which our clubhouse will adhere to as well. For more information or questions you can call the YMCA office at
720-274-5759 or email wheatlandsdistrict@denverymca.org.
Office Hours are Monday-Friday 9am-1pm Tuesday-Thursday evenings from 4-8pm and Saturdays 10am-2pm.
Office is located at the Southlands Mall:
6295 S. Main St Unit 104 (next to massage envy)
Aurora, CO 80016

Park Information – The design was submitted to the City of Aurora in December and we are still waiting on feedback and approval from the City of Aurora to begin the project.  The design is shown below and will include: a full size basketball court, multi use sport court (for pickleball or half basketball), yard games, ping pong tables, new perennial beds, picnic tables and hammock area. We have submitted the design to the City of Aurora for approval and construction will begin next year. We look forward to completing the park and having additional outdoor space for our community to enjoy.
District Landscaping Information –  The Wheatlands Board met with our landscape architect Architerra to discuss adding additional plant color palettes to our neighborhood. This would include plants that come back year over year and provide color throughout different growing seasons. The board chose the blue, purple, yellow planting scheme shown below that pairs well with our existing material in the neighborhood. Our first focus will be around the monuments in our neighborhood and then we hope to expand the plan throughout the Wheatlands Metro property adding pops of color throughout the neighborhood. We are anticipating being able to start work on this during the Spring.
