Easter Egg Hunt
Thank you to everyone who came out for the Wheatlands Easter Event! We had an incredible turnout and beautiful weather.
Everyone had so much fun visiting and taking pictures with the Easter Bunny, hunting for Easter eggs, getting their face painted, jumping in the bounce house, playing on the playground, enjoying a delicious breakfast from the Cruz and Eats food truck, learning about some fascinating animals and reptiles brought by Party Safari, and making a fun Easter craft, and finally getting to enjoy a free cup of coffee from Traveling Tom’s Coffee sponsored by 1320 Homes Real Estate.
A very special thank you to 1320 Homes Real Estate for sponsoring the Traveling Tom’s Coffee Truck and providing a free hot beverage to all the residents who attended. We couldn’t do all of these wonderful community events without your support.

April Blood Drive
Thank you to everyone who came out to donate blood at the April Blood Drive located at the Wheatlands Clubhouse.
A total of 15 units was collected, which will go towards the life-saving efforts of 45 people!

April Movie Event
Everyone who attended the April Family Movie Night had a great time. We watched the movie Mufasa and enjoyed popcorn provided by the board. Thank you to Andrew Jatau, a wonderful Wheatlands resident for helping set up and coordinate the event. Hope to see you at the next Family movie night soon!
Community Updates
Important Pool Information
Pool Hours:
We are excited to announce we will be opening the pool one hour earlier on the weekends! The pool will open at 9 am on Saturday and Sunday. We hope you enjoy the extra hour of swimming.
Pool Maintenance:
The Pool Doctors are starting to prepare the pool for the summer. You may notice them up at the clubhouse draining and filling the pool. They have replaced a motor on one of the pumps that needed replacement, and it is working well. We look forward to having the pool up and ready to go for the summer.
Pool Staff and Pool Rules:
We are excited to announce that approximately 35 of our lifeguards from last year are returning this upcoming summer to help keep our pools safe. Robert Baker will be returning as the aquatic coordinator, Lucy Porter and Hugh Mullen will be returning as our head lifeguards, as well as 3 of our 4 shift leads from last summer will be returning. We are looking forward to a very fun and safe summer! Please be sure to click on the link below to review the pool rules.
Motorized Vehicles at the Park:
Please help us keep our park nice and report any motorized bikes to the police immediately if they are riding in Wheatlands Park. They are causing property damage and when we reached out to the PAR Officer, they said the best way is to report them while it is happening. We have installed signs at the park to make sure the rules are clearly seen. We appreciate the community’s help in reporting this issue and helping us stop the damage to our park. The non-emergency number for the Aurora Police is 303-627-3100
Park Restrooms:
The park restroom will open April 15th and be open until October 15th from 9 am – 7 pm and the restrooms will be cleaned daily. Please help us keep vandalism down by reporting any issues to [email protected].
With the nice weather, we are seeing lots of use of the park earlier and we want the community to be able to use the facilities.
Pickleball Courts:
Since the pickleball court opened, debris has gotten under the tiles and caused all of the dead spots on the court, which made the court unplayable. The hard-working staff at the Y removed those tiles, cleaned the court, and added temporary lines. There is a concrete surface to play on now with no dead spots!
This concrete pad will only be temporary as the board has approved resurfacing the concrete to a tennis court finish in the upcoming months and adding smaller netting around the fence. The company doing the resurfacing has been notified of the approval and we are on their list to have the court resurfaced in the upcoming months. But until then the concrete is a much better court than the tiles were.
So be sure to sign up for a time slot and get out there enjoy playing some pickleball!

Covenent Enforcement
This Spring or Summer you may be thinking of refreshing the look of your house with a new coat of paint. Whether you are repainting the same colors or planning a new color scheme, here are some steps you need to take.
Determine what colors you want your house to be. If you are repainting the same approved color scheme you currently have, you do not need to get approval from the Committee. You need to make sure you have an exact color match to your current approved color scheme in order to go ahead without approval.
If you are changing your colors, you must choose from the approved color schemes found at https://www.sherwin-williams.com/homeowners/color/find-and-explore-colors/hoa/aurora/co/wheatlands-metropolitan-district/. You can choose any of the colors in the Wheatlands archive and even mix and match. The Committee has the right to deny a color scheme even if the colors are from the approved list, if the color combination is not considered to be consistent with the Community.
When you have decided on your colors, you need to submit a request for approval by going to https://www.wheatlandsmetro.org/covenants/ and choosing the Design Review Application option.
For a complete application you will need the following:
- A filled out and signed application.
- The number of the color scheme (or the numbers of the color schemes if you are mixing and matching colors.)
- A photo of the house with the placement of the colors marked on it.
- Photos of the two houses across the street and the two houses on each side of your property.

You can email the application and information to [email protected] or mail to
PO BOX 370750
Denver, CO 80237
Please plan ahead and remember that the Committee has 30 days to process and review your application.
Landscaping Tips and Tricks
Spring is Here!
Irrigation
Irrigation Irrigation season has begun. Fine tune your timer. Make sure your heads are straight and nozzles are clear.
Mowing Height
Cut your grass a bit shorter in the spring and fall to stimulate root development. Bluegrass appreciates a mow height of 2.5”-3.5”.
Aeration
Aerate your turf areas to provide temporary compaction relief and to allow water, nutrient, and air to access the root zone directly.
Planting
Think of sun exposure, planting depth, water requirements, growth pattern, and maintenance needs before planting.
When Planting, Remember: “Right plant, right place”
Fertilizer
Spring is a great time to fertilize all your plants, but different plants have different needs. Always read the label carefully and follow the directions. Different formulas are needed for turf grass versus shrubs and trees versus annual flowers and vegetables.
