Dear Residents,
We would like to take a moment to reflect on all the accomplishments of 2021 and pause to thank you for your continued support of the Wheatlands Metropolitan District. This year we completed several big projects and continued to build relationships with our neighbors by enjoying community events together.
We are so proud that we opened the doors to the Aurora YMCA at Wheatlands and that our community can enjoy this wonderful new facility. We hope you have enjoyed a few of the classes including:
Cycling, Yoga, High Fitness, Pound, Water Aerobics, Pilates, Zumba and so many more! We have taught hundreds of kids in our swim lesson programs and have given them the life-saving skill of swimming. We saw the smiles of young kids learning ballet, hip hop, and Tae Kwon Do. We saw teens having a place to enjoy after school and workout together. We provided childcare for families over the summer and fall break. We are so thankful we were able to build this facility for our community. It is a joy to see so many families use the recreation center. If you haven’t already signed up for your free membership, we hope you take a moment to go to the recreation center and register your family. We appreciate the YMCA staff at our recreation center and all they have done for our community this year!
We are thankful we were able to gather this year as a neighborhood. We hosted several events each month throughout the year and hope you were able to enjoy a few of them. The events include: Food Truck Nights, Learn to Cook like a Chef, Virtual Beer Tasting, Welcome Summer Event, 2 Neighborhood Garage Sales, Shred and Dumpster Day, Pizza Party at the Pool, 4th of July Celebration, Concert in the Park, Summer Movie Night, Wheatlands Pumpkin Patch, A Night of Comedy, and A Visit from Santa. A BIG THANK YOU to our property manager, Isabell Rodau, who coordinated and facilitated these events throughout the year!
It was a joy to see our community use our newly remodeled clubhouse this year! It was nice to be able to have a grand-reopening so everyone can see all the work that went into the space. We remodeled the boys bathroom at the pool and look forward to the girls being completed. We installed 2 new awnings at the pool and are working on additional shade structure for the lifeguard check-in area.
We partnered with Neighborhood Watch this year and hosted a meeting for our community. We learned tips on keeping our neighborhood safe and shared those with our neighbors. We placed 8 additional Neighborhood Watch signs throughout our neighborhood. We appreciate everyone looking out for their neighbors and reporting any suspicious activity.
We continued working on Phase 2 of the Wheatlands Park project. Although we were hoping we could start building the park last year, we did work hard to get through most of the City of Aurora review process including: design review, civil review and engineering review. We continue to make progress on the park project and appreciate the community’s patience.
We look forward to 2022 and all that our community can do together! If you are interested in sponsoring an event or getting involved please reach out to us at [email protected]. We hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season and happy New Year!
