Wheatlands Virtual Beer Tasting via Zoom

Our first virtual beer tasting was a hit!
A special thank you to Kevin Ferguson from Breckenridge Brewery for taking the time to teach us about some of the wonderful beers that Breckenridge Brewery has to offer. We had over 50 residents participate and purchase almost 40 six packs of the Wheatlands sixers. Kevin gave away 48 Breckenridge Pint glasses, along with a lot of wonderful Breckenridge swag to our residents.
We thank all the residents who attended and hope you enjoyed the beers and the prizes.

Pool Information
Get ready for the 2021 Pool Season!

Activate your pool key fobs today by filling out the online form available HERE.   Are you new to the neighborhood and need a pool key fob?  If you haven’t yet picked up your Pool Fob to enjoy the Wheatlands Pool you will need to fill out the Card Request Form.  Once you have completed your form, you can pick up your Pool Key Fob at the District Management office for the YMCA (located at the YMCA Youth Center at Southlands).
During the pool season, we must comply with all local and state regulations. We are hopeful that we will be able to operate closer to full capacity and without restrictions this summer however we will update the community as we get closer to opening day on what the pool restrictions (if any) will be. We appreciate your understanding and help complying with Tri-County Health’s guidelines.

Swim Team
We want to welcome back to the pool this summer the Wheatlands Sharks! They will be practicing in the mornings before the pool opens and will have 3 meets scheduled on Saturday mornings. The board recognizes how important the pool is to all our residents and we want to find a balance with allowing the swim team and having more family swim time.

With this in mind, we will be offering extended family swim nights the first three Saturdays in July to offset the swim team time. We choose these nights in July since the weather will be warmer and daylight will be longer. Mark your calendars for July 3, 10 and 17 the pool will be stay open until 9:30pm. We hope you will enjoy swimming under the stars.

Pool Maintenance
We have been working to spruce up our pool.

Here are some of the items that will be completed before the pool opens for the season:
  • We have replaced the tiles at the zero entry pool and will be painting the water mushroom.
  • We have added 2 additional shade structures that will be painted to match the structures put in last year.
  • We have fixed the fencing around the pool. The pool fence was tilting down the hill along the southside and needed to be repaired.
  • We are remodeling the boys bathroom at the pool. We had our interior designer come in and help us remove the old plastic molding and replace with new tiles, change out the sinks and replace the lighting. With limited time and budget, we decided to complete one bathroom at a time and hope to complete the girls bathroom which will be a bigger remodel next year.
  • We will be adding more tables to the pool deck.

Clubhouse
We will be re-staining the outside of the clubhouse this month. Please be aware this will not impact activities. This work will help ensure our clubhouse continues to look nice for years to come.
We can’t wait for more residents to be able to enjoy our newly remodeled clubhouse. CLICK HERE TO FIND OUT MORE DETAILS on how to rent the clubhouse.

Yard Game Rentals
New this year, Wheatlands residents can borrow yard games free of charge for their next gathering at the park or clubhouse. We will have: Giant Connect Four, Giant Jenga, Yard Pong, Slam Ball, Ring Toss, Ladder Golf and Corn Click here for details

Summer Camp
The YMCA summer camp that used to be held at our Wheatlands Clubhouse is moving up the road to our new Recreation center facility..  Summer camp registration has begun, to get additional information and to enroll CLICK HERE
District Landscaping Information
The board has chosen a landscaper to complete the work around our entrances. We anticipate the plantings going in over the next few months. The landscapers will be completing the plantings at all our monument signs. These perennial plantings will save our district money on annual planting. We look forward to enjoying the new colors and seeing the design completed.

In addition, to the new landscaping design, the board has approved for the trees to be sprayed this spring to keep them healthy and bug free.

Tree Spraying
Arbor Scape Services will be spraying trees on
Saturday May 1st between the hours of 6:30am – 12:00pm.
Please keep dogs inside and windows closed when we are working near your property.
We will be treating Evergreen and Ash trees.

Park Trash Removal
As we approach warmer weather, the trash in the trash cans at the park will be removed twice a week by Cox Landscaping. They will be out on Fridays and Mondays to remove the trash from trash receptacles. We are encouraging pavilion rentals to bring their own trash bags as well. We want to keep it clean for everyone and appreciate your help carrying out large picnic/trash items if you have them at the park.
Park Phase II Update
The City of Aurora is running behind on their review process. With COVID-19 they have furloughed employees and are running short staffed. Once the City has approved our phase two design, we will be able to go out to bid and start our construction. With the delay in the approval process, we anticipate the park construction not beginning until Fall. We hope to start sooner but want to be realistic with the timeframe.  We will keep the community informed as the project progresses.

COVENANT ENFORCEMENT
Fence Staining and Painting
Spring is here and it is time to refresh your fences. The inspector will be going through the District over the next month and sending notices for fences that need to be stained or painted. The compliance date will be set for May 31st, 2021 to allow time for warmer weather and planning. Non- perimeter fences need to be stained with one of the approved stain colors in the guidelines. Perimeter split rail fences need to be painted the Sherwin Williams Nightingale color listed in the guidelines. For more details and information on determining if you fence is a perimeter or non- perimeter fence, please visit the Wheatlands website with the below HERE

If you have any questions or concerns, please email Sharon at [email protected]

Thank you for helping us keep the community beautiful!

Important Neighborhood Watch Info
We are seeing an increase in the number of motor vehicle thefts and motor vehicle trespasses in our community.  Please be sure to report all suspicious activity to the Aurora Police Department (303-627-3100/911). “If you see something, say something.”

Tips to Help Prevent Motor Vehicle Theft and Motor Vehicle Trespasses:

1.      NEVER leave your vehicle running unattended in your driveway, garage, or on the street – if you use a remote start you may do so however be sure doors are locked and key/key fobs are in a safe place away from the vehicle.

2.      ALWAYS keep your vehicle doors locked, when driving and parked.

3.      Park in your garage. If you must park outside, park in a well-lit location.

4.      Do not keep a spare set of keys in the vehicle.

5.      Do not store firearms or other weapons in the vehicle.

6.      Do not “advertise” what’s in your vehicle. Remove all items each time you depart the vehicle and do not leave anything visible.

7.      Avoid leaving documents with your address in the glove box.

8.      Purchase comprehensive insurance which covers stolen vehicles.

9.      Use a theft deterrent system such as “The Club” or an alarm system.

For more information on motor vehicle theft prevention please visit: www.lockdownyourcar.org.

Fast Enterprises is excited to announce that we will be hosting our fifth annual Camp Code for Girls during the summer of 2021! We will be hosting Camp Code remotely again this summer due to the uncertain nature of the COVID-19 pandemic.

CLICK HERE for details and the registration page for the 2021 session on our corporate website.

Camp Code is free to all accepted participants.
Camp Code is led by a group of female software developers who work at Fast Enterprises. As a technology company, FAST recognizes that there is a lack of women in technology fields. We’re hosting this camp with the hope of introducing girls to the opportunities available to them in those fields. We’re offering this camp to rising ninth graders, who are at an age where they will be making education decisions that may guide them into technology-oriented fields.
