Swim Meet Dates:
The Wheatlands Sharks will be hosting their home meets at the Wheatlands pool on the following dates:
Saturday June 1
Saturday June 15
Saturday June 22
The pool will open to the residents starting at 2pm on those days.
Pool Maintenance:
All off season approved repairs have been completed. The activity pool repair is completed, and the pressure test held. The main pool inspection will begin in the next few weeks. The plaster contract has been signed and re-plasting will begin. The goal is to have all pools filled and circulating by May 1st.
Landscape Maintenance:
Cox continues to complete snow removal for the district. We had several snow events in March and the board appreciates their speed clearing the district sidewalks and clubhouse parking lot. They have begun pruning the wheat grass throughout the district as the weather allows. We are still working with our landscape architect to review the medians in Wheatlands and waiting to receive their recommendations for xeriscaping so we can take advantage of the City of Aurora’s rebate program.
Recreation Center:
The Wheatlands Metropolitan District (the “District”) is finalizing plans to purchase the recreation center from the Wheatlands Park and Recreation Authority (the “Authority”). Originally built by the Authority, the District has been in negotiations with the Authority and its lending banks to allow the District to purchase the recreation center from the Authority (the “Transaction”). After discussing the Transaction at the last several board meetings, the District’s board believes it is in the best interest of the community to purchase the building to allow the community to continue to enjoy the recreation center and stabilize the facility’s financial future.
Why Does it Matter: The District hired DA Davidson to analyze the lending market and help secure a series 2024 loan. The loan will be secured by a property tax debt service mill levy, the same mill levy that currently secures the District’s outstanding Series 2015 bonds. By purchasing the building from the Authority, the District is securing the recreation center’s future. The District will become the owner of the recreation center and intends to retain its partnership with the YMCA as the facilities manager.
When is this Happening: There are several issues to settle between all parties involved. The target closing date for the Transaction is May 1, 2024.
