A Visit from Santa
on a Horse Drawn Carriage

Sunday, December 12th
4:30pm – 6:30pm

Santa Claus is coming to town or rather to our neighborhood!
In partnership with the North Pole, the Wheatlands Metro District and 1320 Homes Real Estate has made arrangements for Santa to make an appearance in our neighborhood a few weeks before Christmas.

Due to his hectic schedule, Santa will not stop in the neighborhood but will drive by waving and wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas.
He will be leaving his reindeer at home and instead will be pulled by a horse drawn carriage.  Santa will begin his journey at 4:30pm on Sunday, December 12th.

Grab your cookies and hot chocolate and stay in your home all cozy and warm if you wish and wait for Santa to arrive in the neighborhood!

See the map below to see what route he will take.
Santa can’t wait to see each and everyone one of you.

Happy Holidays!
A very special thank you to:
MIKE and JEN CRONK FROM 1320 HOMES REAL ESTATE
for sponsoring the Horse Drawn Carriage Ride as well!

Community Event Recap
Comedy Night
The comedy night for the community was filled with lots of laughs, tears from laughing so hard and snacks, appetizers and dessert. Thank you to those that attended. It was a really good time! It was an intimate event with approximately 65 people, and so much fun. Geoff Tice was the opening comedian and Bryan Kellen was the main act. Both are extremely funny and talented comedians.

And a very special thanks to Jacob Gillispie from Biggie Blinds who helped sponsor and organize the event!
Community Information
District Landscaping Information

Fall is a transitional part of the year for landscaping. Cox is working on filling in the rocks for the parts of Powhaton with the new trees. You may have noticed the rocks stored at the clubhouse parking lot. Cox and Tree analysis continue to plant and replace trees and will continue to do so into next year. They are also partnering with the Tree Analysis group to create a 3 year pruning plan.
Park Phase II Update

We have finally reached the public notice phase of the approval process. Public notices were placed around the park beginning November 12 and mailed to anyone within 5 miles of the park. In addition, we worked with the City of Aurora as they are requiring us to put a pond maintenance manual in place with the detention pond located further away on the district property before they will approve our park project. We were surprised this would be part of the hold up but are now working on getting the manual created and hopefully will be able to have the 2nd phase of our park go out to bid soon.
Park Maintenance

We winterized the drinking fountains at the park and they will remain turned off until spring. The park bathroom is heated and will be open for year round use. Please help us keep it clean and if you notice any destructive behavior please notify the board. Please contact WheatlandsDistrict@denverymca.org if you notice any destructive behavior.

We did a final walk through of Park Phase I and the bushes and trees that did not survive this year are covered under warranty. They will be replaced by Good Land construction in the spring of next year.

Snow Removal

The City of Aurora got back to us on our proposal for hiring our own company to plow the roads in Wheatlands in the event of a significant snowstorm. Unfortunately they said that Public Works is saying that they need a lot of lead time in order to have the IGA and snow removal program in place. They do not anticipate being able to approve our plan for this winter season. The Wheatlands Metro District Board did meet with LandTech who could provide the snow plow service to the district at our November Board Meeting. LandTech explained that we would need 2 plows for each event and gave different pricing options. At this point it all hinges on when/if we get approval from the City of Aurora.

Girls Bathroom Remodel

Demo began at the end of October and the project will continue through the next few months. We will be replacing the outdated foam looking walls with new tile. We will be remaking the space with a new design and fresh clean look. We can’t wait to see this new space!

Pool Maintenance

While working on the larger pool, our pool technician noticed the zero-entry pool had a leak. They still have to complete the repair, fill and cover it. They are also still working on the repair for the lap pool. The pool area has been winterized with the awnings taken down, chairs and tables covered or stowed away.

Swim Team

The Wheatlands Sharks Swim Team attended the last board meeting asking to change their contract for next year so it would be directly with the district instead of the YMCA. They would be providing their own lifeguard staff during their practices and meets. We appreciate all the Sharks who came to the meeting and shared what a benefit the team has been to you over the years. The Wheatlands Metro District board appointed a few board members to form the Swim Team Committee to partner with the swim team on a contract for next year and create expectations for managing the pool during swim meets and practices.

Budget Meeting

We are pleased to announce that we will be keeping the $65 monthly fee and our mil levy the same next year. Some of the upcoming projects we hope to achieve include phase 2 of the Wheatlands park. We also want to start looking at phase 2 for the recreation center which could include a gymnasium. We still have landscaping projects and our pool maintenance to complete next year as well. We have received very positive feedback on the community events this year and look forward to continuing them next year too.
