Santa’s Ride – December 12, 2020

The Grinch won’t be stealing Christmas this year and neither will COVID-19. Santa Claus is coming to town or rather to your neighborhood! In partnership with the North Pole, the Wheatlands Metro District has made arrangements for Santa to make an appearance in our neighborhood a few weeks before Christmas.

Due to his hectic schedule, Santa will not stop in the neighborhood but will drive by waving and wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas. He will be leaving his reindeer at home and instead will be pulled by a horse drawn carriage.  Santa will begin his journey at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 12th.

Look on the map below to see where Santa’s ride will take him.  Please help us keep the community safe by maintaining social distancing and wearing masks while viewing Santa’s journey through Wheatlands. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
Toy Drive:

Our partners at AMI have organized a community Toy Drive for our neighborhood on Friday, December 11, 2020.

“At AMI, we believe that living begins with giving and we know that this Holiday Season will be hard for many of us, due to the outbreak of Covid-19 and the hardships caused by the restrictions in place. So, we will be working with 2 local Community Support Centers to join them in their efforts to provide Toys for those in need within our communities and surrounding neighborhoods and bring some much-needed Joy this Holiday Season.”  Please see below for details:
Community Information

Budget Meeting – The Wheatlands Board met and finalized our 2021 budget. The board is entirely composed of Wheatlands residents and we strive to enhance our community property while lowering our property taxes. We are pleased to announce that we will be reducing our mil levy by 5 mils from our general fund next year. The association fee is not changing and will remain at $65 a month.

It is wonderful that we are able to reduce our property taxes and are able to complete several additional projects for our community next year (including phase 2 of the park). We would like to highlight the reduction of our mil levy over the the last 2 years. We were able to reduce our property taxes and maintain our association fee, all while creating a new recreation center which will give everyone in Wheatlands a family membership and also build a brand new park for our community to enjoy.  We hope everyone has a wonderful New Year!

Clubhouse information – We continue to keep our clubhouse open for our residents knowing it is important to have a space for our residents to use when several other facilities are closed. Tri-County health has recently changed their guidelines on group gatherings which our clubhouse will adhere to as well. For more information or questions you can call the YMCA office at
720-274-5759 or email wheatlandsdistrict@denverymca.org.
Office Hours are Monday-Friday 9am-1pm and Wednesday evenings from 4-8pm
Office is located at the Southlands Mall:
6295 S. Main St Unit 104 (next to massage envy)
Aurora, CO 80016

Park Information – The Wheatlands Metro District is pleased to announce we are beginning Phase 2 of the Wheatlands Park Project. The design is shown below and will include: a full size basketball court, multi use sport court (for pickleball or half basketball), yard games, ping pong tables, new perennial beds, picnic tables and hammock area. We have submitted the design to the City of Aurora for approval and construction will begin next year. We look forward to completing the park and having additional outdoor space for our community to enjoy.
District Landscaping Information –  The Wheatlands Board met with our landscape architect Architerra to discuss adding additional plant color palettes to our neighborhood. This would include plants that come back year over year and provide color throughout different growing seasons. The board chose the blue, purple, yellow planting scheme shown below that pairs well with our existing material in the neighborhood. Our first focus will be around the monuments in our neighborhood and then we hope to expand the plan throughout the Wheatlands Metro property adding pops of color throughout the neighborhood.
