The Metro District places signs at the entrances to the neighborhood to communicate the sale.

Park Update
* Climbing Wall
o The rebar inspection for the large playground wall passed and the concrete was poured.

* Restroom
o Restroom permit was acquired.
GoodLand over-excavated the site and has been working on the restroom foundation.
o The restroom was built offsite and installed on Wednesday, May 22nd.
o The restroom will have running water and a flush toilet.

* Playground Signs
o Architerra is working with Artcraft on the fabrication of the signs.
o The signs will tie into the theme and will also include park rules and a community board.

* Sculptures
o The sculptures for the park were scheduled to be here in June however the company providing them is now quoting closer to August.
o There is a 4-6 week lead time on the customized sculptures.

* Site Furnishings
o All site furnishings have been ordered and will be stored at Goodland’s site until ready to be installed.

* Shelter
o We have received the engineering drawings for the shelter.

* Playground Equipment
o The equipment has been ordered and shipped in May.

 Pool Season 
Summer is here and the pool is open! Please remember residents of Wheatlands must fill out the pool waiver each year. Your key fob will not be activated until the waiver is filled out. To fill out the 2019 pool waiver, please click here. 

If you are a new resident you must come into either the Wheatlands Clubhouse or Lakehouse to fill out paper work to get your fobs.

Weather Policy
If lightning or inclement weather is spotted the pool will close for safety and reopen when the weather has passed. The temperature outside must be 60 degrees or higher for our pools to open. Happy Swimming!

Kids Night Out at The Lakehouse
Kids will have games and crafts with dinner provided, and will get to watch a movie in our movie theater. Parents can relax with the night off. $15 for 1st child $10 for additional children. 6:00 pm-10:00 pm. Please register by Wednesday prior to event. Register on the YMCA website. Southlands Shopping Center and the Aurora YMCA is here to help you! Drop the kids off at the YMCA Teen Center where Kids can participate in activities and crafts as you indulge yourself with everything Southlands has to offer! Join youth from throughout the state at our premier model government program. High school aged students will write and debate bills, argue state supreme court cases or take part in our press and lobbyist programs. Reach & Rise Mentoring
What is Reach and Rise?
  • Reach and Rise is a free group mentoring program of the YMCA, established to provide young people in our community with positive and peer relationships.
  • 2 adult mentors are matched with a group of 6 youth
  • The group will meet once a week for 2 hours.
  • The program cycle runs for 8 weeks during the summer and 16 weeks during the fall and spring.
  • Mentors are meant to serve as role models, friends, and confidants. They’re another source of support for your child. They are not meant to take the role of a parent, babysitter, or financier.

YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program (YDPP)
Join a small group, led by a certified lifestyle coach who directs and encourages class participants as they make behavior modifications to lose weight and reduce the risk of chronic disease.

During the year long program of 25, 1-hour sessions participants learn about healthy habits including mindful eating and physical activity. Classes are coming soon to the Lakehouse in your neighborhood, Wednesdays, 6-7pm.

Southlands Shopping Center Events



Southlands Cub Club is for children ages 3 to 10. Members get special discounts at Southlands retailers and YMCA programs, monthly events, a club newsletter and during your child’s birth month, they receive a special birthday surprise. Community Park – Restroom Installed

The community restroom was installed this morning. The restroom was lifted off a flatbed truck and installed onto the restroom foundation. The stonework was chosen to match the clubhouse and existing architecture around Wheatlands. The restroom includes a water bottle filling station and drinking fountain on the exterior.

Community Park: May Construction Update

The community park is moving along! Below are a few key deliveries that have been achieved and are happening this month:

Swim Lesson Registration

The YMCA offers swim lessons at our pool during the summer. Classes are skill based and occur in the morning before the pool opens. Enrollment is filling up fast!

No audition required*

*Students must be able to read well and memorize short scripts/monologues between classes. (yep a little bit of homework!) 

Students must be willing to interact in group setting and work well with others. Physical activity will be required for some acting exercises. Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes. 

Please note this is an acting technique workshop. This is not a musical theater camp- no dancing or singing will be required, but it is always fun to incorporate if you know how! No experience or previous training is necessary. All levels/ages will work together.

What we’ll be doing:

  • Improv games
  • Scene study and script analysis (It’s all about the story!)
  • Building characters
  • Monologue technique
  • Auditioning for theater
  • Auditioning for film & commercials and how to get a talent agent in Denver!
  • Acting exercises to help you think outside the box!

Alicia is a resident of Wheatlands, and currently runs a stage & film acting workshop in Denver for age 18+.

Alicia is a graduate of University of Northern Colorado with a BA in Communications and a minor in Theater and Dance Performance. She has been performing and teaching in Denver since 2004 and is represented by Big Fish Talent. 

Alicia also works as a Director of Marketing for a retail consulting firm (for her “day” job) where she works with retail business owners on branding and marketing strategy. She has produced print and digital campaigns as well as commercials and radio spots for many types of industry over her career. 

 Alicia is a founding board member for Women in Film & Media Colorado and is a Legacy Henry Judge for the Colorado Theater Guild.
